Where, Who, What

Although Victoria is the smallest of Australia's mainland States, it is the second in terms of population. It is bordered by New South Wales in the North and South Australia to the West. The coast in the South is regarded as one of the most spectacular shorelines in the World and is famous for its Great Ocean Drive. The State Capital of Melbourne accounts for 75% of Victorians and is regarded as the culture and fashion capital of Australia. Victorians are also for their love of coffee and you can't walk far in without finding a great cafe. The State is also associated with great sporting events such as the Melbourne Cup in horse racing and the Australian Open in tennis. The Boxing Day cricket test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is world famous for its passion and atmosphere. Hot Summers from December to February are replaced by cold Winters in June, July and August which brings the snow season and many other visitors to regional Victoria.

Melbourne is the State Capital of Victoria and is regarded as the culture and fashion capital of Australia. The inhabitants of Melbourne pride themselves on their style and love of coffee. Melbourne is also firmly associated with sport. It is the home of AFL - Aussie Rules Football. However the city also offers great cricket, soccer, rugby union, horse racing and rugby league amongst other sports. The Melbourne Cricket Ground is a must for visitors to the city, which sits alongside Melbourne Park home of the Australian Open in tennis. Melbourne is located on a large natural bay called Port Phillip with the CBD positioned on the Yarra River.

Away from Melbourne you can discover a stunning range of wineries, coastal towns and villages, picturesque beaches, scenic drives and snow fields. Some of the popular destinations for visitors include Phillip Island where you can meet the local fairy penguins and the Great Ocean Road which is a stunning drive along the South West Coast and home to the 12 Apostles. Many people head to Victoria in the Winter to enjoy the snow fields. Victoria has seven alpine resorts and locations such as Hotham, Mount Buller and Falls Creek have become synonymous with skiing, snowboarding and fun in Victoria.
